Faculty & Staff Profile
Mohammad Javad Abdolhosseini Qomi
Professor
CIVIL & ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

Abdolhosseini’s research aims at fundamental understanding of the relation between chemical composition and physical properties of advanced engineering materials. Optimizing composition-structure-property correlation is essential for devising new approaches to effectively reduce the carbon and energy footprints of civil engineering materials and infrastructures. His group employs statistical physics and engineering mechanics tools to develop multiscale bottom-up methods that range from the nano- to the city-scale. These multiscale and multidisciplinary methods provide a quantitative insight into designing the next generation of advanced infrastructure materials and systems (AIMS).
Abdolhosseini has joint faculty appointments in the Departments of Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
